One of the most interesting and spectacular rituals and traditions among Iranians, which has flourished for many years, is setting the Haft-e-Sin table. Many of you dear ones, may ask why the New Year delivery table is called Haft-e-Sin.  It should be said that the symbols of HaftSin philosophy is the symbols of each of its components.  In fact, each of the Haftsin persian tableware has its own symbol and meaning.  As you know, the Achaemenids, who were among the pre-Islamic Iranians, named their table Haft Chin.  On Nowruz, they poured food into seven porcelain dishes and called it seven porcelain.  In a series of historical sources, it is stated that the ancient Iranians also had the Haft Shin table.

This Haft Shin persian tablecloth included: candy branches, anemones, syrup, boxwood, wine, sweets, nectar, and persian candles.  It has changed over time. In many villages, it was customary to set up a seven-tray table, meaning that different foods were placed inside the seven trays, but over time, with the removal of the Nowruz table, it has become seven persian trays.

The Haft-e-Sin table has existed in our culture for a long time.  Even today, the Haft-e-Sin table is set in the last hours of the year with changes compared to the past.

Spreading the Haft-e-Sin tablecloth just hours before the New Year is one of the rituals left over from ancient Iran.  Today, the people of Iran spread the Haft-e-Sin tablecloth on the floor or table and place the Quran, fish, persian mirror, and Haft-e-Sin, including garlic, vinegar, elm, and so on.  In this article, we will talk in detail about the symbols of the HaftSin table.  So stay with us until the end.
