CALLIGRAPHY HAFT SIN SET
Calligraphy is an important art form in many cultures, including in Iran, where it is often incorporated into various forms of decorative arts and crafts, including the Haft-seen set.
In traditional Haft-seen set, it is common to include calligraphic designs or inscriptions on items such as plates or platters, or on the Sofreh-ye Haft-seen itself, which can be inscribed with auspicious phrases or verses from the Quran. Some people also display Calligraphy works on the Haft-seen set. The Calligraphy Art usually used in the Haft-seen set is Nasta’liq script which is a style of Arabic calligraphy, but it is not limited to this script.
It is common to see calligraphic designs featuring the name of God, verses from the Quran, or other religious phrases as a way to seek blessings and protection in the new year.
The use of calligraphy in Haft-seen set adds an aesthetic and spiritual dimension to the traditional Nowruz decorations, making it an important and meaningful aspect of the Nowruz celebrations.
It is worth noting that, Calligraphy in Haft-sin set is not a mandatory or standard inclusion in the traditional setting, but it can be considered as a common inclusion that gives an artistic and religious touch to the traditional setting.
