Clutch is a term that can refer to different things depending on the context. Here are a few common uses of the word:
- Mechanical Device: In the context of machinery or vehicles, a clutch is a mechanical device used to engage or disengage the power transmission between two rotating shafts. It allows for smooth engagement and disengagement of the transmission, such as between the engine and the wheels in a vehicle.
- Handbag: In fashion, a clutch refers to a small, handheld bag that is usually strapless and designed to be held in the hand or tucked under the arm. Clutches are often used for special occasions or formal events.
- Control: The term “clutch” can also be used to describe the action of gripping or holding onto something tightly, often in a moment of urgency or control. For example, someone might clutch a steering wheel tightly during a sudden maneuver.
